Available on either the Kindle (best red on Kindle Fire) or as a hardcover book this book is recommended for ages 3-7.  We’ve been reading this book together for years.  It features a great story line, rhyming text, and delightful illustrations. Here is a snippet…”The day before Christmas, snuggled on his floor, Bear sleeps soundly with a great big snore….”  For extra drama and giggles add your own snoring sounds.

Also available for either the Kindle or as a hardcover book this book is recommended for ages for 0-6 but I highly recommended for children even older.  It is just a darling book!  An overgrown and old pine tree just keeps getting passed over year after year, never chosen to be a Christmas Tree.  This book is just destined to be a classic.

This book is just pure fun! Intended for children ages 3-5 though I always find my older boys with this tucked under their arm headed to a comfy spot to read. It’s Christmas Eve and people are snug in their beds, but something is stirring outside. The snowmen are preparing to celebrate! Under the glow of moonlight, all the snow families are slipping away to gather in the town square for a night of caroling, dancing, and an exciting visit from the snowman Santa Claus.

How would any Christmas be complete without the Grinch?  I’ve decided my little Banana resembles Cindy Lou Who! This might be the most frequently read book in our home at Christmas.  We delight in it not only as a read aloud (Mommy likes to get dramatic with it) but also as a book for quite reading too.  It’s a true must have!

This book!  THIS BOOK!  I think it’s my favorite children’s book EVER! I’m a terribly huge fan of Eric Carle.  I have my own personal collection of most of his books.  This book does not come in Kindle version for very good reason.  In between the pages are special sheets of snow covered acetate that lend cover the illustrations and add a magical interactive experience to this book.  It’s the story of a farmer, and his animals, on a wonderful Christmas Eve.  WONDERFUL book to offer as a gift!

This books is just one of the most wonderful Christmas books ever.  Every year is sparks my children’s imagination and kicks off hours of endless pretend play.  Every child should have a chance to read this book… over and over again!

Ok so this book isn’t technically a Christmas book!  It is still one we take out each year at about its an old classic that never gets tiresome.  I truly remember reading this book myself as a child.  It’s the story of one boy’s adventures out in the snowy world on snowy day.  My children delight in this book and so do I!  This is another must have for any home library.

I adore this book!  Again, more of a winter book than Christmas, it still ranks up there as a favorite read this time of year.  It’s the story of how a whole assortment of forest animals wiggle their way inside of a tiny mitten.  The illustrations are outstanding.  The story is a blast.  In our home we like to dig out a sleeping bag and reenact the mitten during our playtime.  True fun!

Another one of our favorite Jan Brett books and another filled with absolutely breath taking illustrations.  Little Teeka finds herself in a bit of quandary! She has to get the Reindeer ready for Christmas when things go awry.  She realizes she must make a new plan or risk Christmas!

I saved the best for last!  We all know the song Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer right?  Well here is the original story!  It is so hard to choose our absolute favorite Christmas book. But this just might be it!

So what are your family’s favorite Christmas picture books?  I’d love to hear what books make the best list in your family every year! Check back here soon as I’ll share some of our favorite chapter length Christmas books as well!

Merry Christmas!
