Katie and Chris and Baby Make 3!

I wanted to share with you the photos of a beautiful couple that I recently had the the pleasure to photograph. They are awaiting the birth of their very first baby.

We certainly lucked out with a very beautiful day for our photoshoot. But really it was Katie who rocked it. Isn’t she just gorgeous?

But what I loved the most about these two is how they let their love for each other absolutely shine through for the camera.

These two are going to make fantastic parents. I can see it just in how they care for one another.

Congratulations Katie and Chris! I am SO looking forward to the big day… the day I get to photograph your sweet little addition. Best wishes and prayers for an excellent delivery.

Gorgeous Is Really An Understatement! Connecticut Maternity Photographer

There I was, in a place that was so familiar and yet so foreign.  A place that screamed out to me from another time but yet didn’t look anything like I remembered it to be.  In front of me was an absolutely stunning mommy-to-be and her very handsome husband.  I was giggling inside with each click of the camera as I just couldn’t get over how blessed I was to be photographing this lovely pair.  Yet I was slightly disorientated by my surroundings.  For this session we chose a park that was near and dear to my heart as a young child.  I spent many summer days splashing in the lagoon with my mommy looking on.  I had climbed the nearby rock walls and splashed into the refreshing water beneath.  I had dug and dug in the sand and created countless numbers of castle creations.

All of that was gone now.  In it’s place as a nature sanctuary of sorts.  No more lagoon, no more water, no more sand.  It made me dizzy.  I had heard sometime ago that they had closed the lagoon.  Countless issues with bacteria and water quality were to blame.  I remember thinking how sad that was.  But I have to say, standing there in the middle of tall grass on a beautiful new bridge, it didn’t feel quite so sad any more.  The town had done a very lovely job with the space.  Still my mind kept fading back to those endless summer days of so long ago.

Some things were just as I remembered them.  Off in the distance stood a pool house and pool that was SO MUCH TINIER than I ever remembered it.  That was where I learned to swim.  The summer I was six years old my grandmother dutifully drove me to my lesson each and every day.  She’d sit just outside the fence in her folding lawn chair looking on as I followed the instructors as closely as a six year old could.  It took me the entire summer to pass the very basic introductory swim class.  I remember I had a hard time bobbing in the water 10 straight times.  I had very very long hair back then.  Clear down to my rear end.  Each time I poked out of the water my hair got in my face.  It drove me NUTS so I would stop to wipe it away.  Well, that was against the rules!  So I just couldn’t pass.  Until the end when I decided not to let it bother me.

Now here I was in another time, a whole other person, living a life that six year old couldn’t have fathomed.  And I was having a ball!  When I received the inquiry for maternity photos from Heather I was absolutely thrilled.  (Okay, truth be told I am ALWAYS thrilled with new inquiries).  Heather, her husband John, and I attend the same church but opposite services so I hadn’t had the pleasure of meeting them just yet.  I knew we had a number of mutual friends including the Jakum’s and I am just thrilled when my name is passed around between friends.  But I also feel pressured!  It is flattering to know my work was appreciated enough that someone new would like to book yet I always wonder… can I do it again?

I have to tell you Heather and John made things so tremendously easy!  Heather is just absolutely positively gorgeous and she just RADIATED as a mommy-to-be!  I was just so insanely jealous!  And I mean that in a good way.  She carried her pregnancy so well.  I would have eclipsed her with my own full term belly when I was pregnant.  Anyone who knows me well and has seen me carry three babies knows I am not exaggerating in the slightest.

Oh, and not only could this lady walk the runaway as a model, but her and her husband were just the absolute sweetest people!  We chatted it up like old friends right from the first minute.  I was overjoyed when they asked me to return to capture some of their newborn’s first days once she arrived.  The two of them stole my breath more than once!  The love they have for each other was just amazing.  I laughed when John ripped off his sweater so his love wouldn’t have to sit on the ground.  Who says chivalry is dead!

Their excitement for the day when they’d meet their new little bundle was just so sweet to behold.  For just a short time they gave me a peak into their little world and they invited me to document this special moment in their journey together as a couple.  What an honor and privilege.

We did take a few photos at Heather and John’s home.  I had to share this one.  Isn’t she just amazing?

I won’t soon forget this shoot.  It brought me back in time and reminded me to appreciate the here and now as it is always slipping away.  And I had the opportunity to meet to amazing people and start to develop a new friendship.  I’d say it was a day very well spent.

Enjoy the photos and do leave some comments in support of Heather and John!  I know they’ll appreciate it!
